Metamorphoses-Water from cycle Habitat, 1999-2001, 70x210 in. The seven part Metamorphoses-Water was created in 1999-2001. The idea began when Anna Socha VanMatre was absorbed in the music of Krzysztof Penderecki and was preparing an exhibition in conjunction with one of his concerts. Fascinated by his Violin Concerto #2 (Metamorphoses), she chose this composition as inspiration for her own work. The title refers to the presence of cyclical elements and procedures. The seven components are in sequential order, but with interchangeable starting points like the days of the week. Taken as a whole, they form a single movement with dramatic contrasts and constant changes. |
