Ukraine has taken the world by surprise with its courage and valiant
tenacity. The tragedy of Ukraine made Europe realize that we are facing
an enemy who has attacked our values. This work pays homage to
Ukraine’s determination and endurance. It is impossible to express this
through realistic art, because we who are safe perceive this war as unreal
insanity. Expressive abstraction conveys this theme best, with theatrical
explosions of energy set against the stage-like depth of the backdrop.
